These barns were built over 300 years ago as part of Northcourt Farm, itself dating back almost 1,000 years to the monks of Abingdon Abbey. The buildings worked right through to 1945, later becoming a dairy until the 1990s.
The barns then stood empty until the people of Christ Church bought and rebuilt them, creating something special for the community.
We're a big team of friendly part-time volunteers supported by paid staff, serving North Abingdon with good food and drink since the café opened in May 2013.

The Barns Cafe doesn't own any rooms on site; all rooms, including the café, are owned by Christ Church. Get in touch with the church office and they'll help you find a suitable space.
We book our long table downstairs for large groups (6-10 people) in 90 minute blocks if you get in touch with your requirements. We'll also book a smaller downstairs table for those with mobility problems. We don't book small tables or mezzanines.
Yes - our full menu is on the website and everything is made fresh to order, so there can be longer waits at busy lunchtimes. It's helpful to phone your order ahead, especially for large groups.
Whenever you come, you're welcome to take your time and enjoy the atmosphere.
